Administrative Structure

  • The administrative structure in medieval India was mainly based on the Persian-Arabic method while the military organization was based on the Turk-Mongol Method. The land revenue system of Hindus was also upheld. Thus the administrative structure was of mixed form.
  • The Sultan - Sultan was the head of Central rule, he was the supreme governing of the state, the greatest judge in the tribunal, the architect of the law and the commander in chief of the armies.
  • He used to discuss all important matters of the state in Majlis-e-Khalwat (Majlis-e-Aam), in which very confident and high officials were allowed to participate.
  • The Sultan himself governed all departments and every branch of the state. The ministers were in charge of their departments with the help of the class of ministers, but their policy was always guided
